King Kong the Musical
I love musicals. There is something fantastic about combining theatre with live music performance and telling a story in song. So what did I think when I was lucky enough to see King Kong the Musical in Melbourne? It was excellent! Here’s why.

Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular 2013 - Australian tour!
Took me a while to decide to review this one, since I don’t think
we've previously delved into Musical-theatre-nerd here at FP. But after some
consideration, fuelled no doubt by my enthusiasm for babbling about it to
anyone who’ll listen, I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re equal-opportunity
nerds and therefore can have a shot at anything that excites us. And this
production of Jesus Christ Superstar was nothing if not exciting.
Join me after the break if your Jesus-boner is mighty!!

Thursday Threesome: Three Favourite Musical Moments in Movies!
It’s time for a Thursday Threesome again, and today it is I who has the honour of writing passionately about three random, trivial things from my pop culture past! I have spun our mighty custom-made wheel and settled on the subject of my favourite Musical Moments in Movies! However, please don’t be so foolhardy to think that I am implying that these are necessarily the very best songs. Oh no, foolish reader, I’m talking about those perfect moments where both the sound and visuals suddenly blend together in a memorable and meaningful way. It’s synergy, folks!

Review: Les Miserables!
A complete stranger to the musical, the book, musicals, and reading, I approach director Tom Hooper's 2012 adaptation of Les Miserables as a dutiful boyfriend, making up for eight years of often sketchy superhero fare. As the lights dimmed I braced myself for a three-hour all-singing trial disappointingly devoid of mutants, catwomen, warg riders or giant eagles. And yet, by the time the lights returned, I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe even a convert. And I may have even had, at times, just the tiniest, most discreet, manliest bit of a cry. I was having a great time being miserable.
