Apparently not only are drugs bad, but Turkey is the Devil's poultry in this one of a kind, pro religion, anti drug, horror splatterfest.

Forget Halo 4, I'm Playing Candy Crush Saga

Guys, I have a problem: I'm addicted to a Facebook game.

Here I am, typing away on a multi-hundred dollar PC that can play Diablo 3 to its hearts content, basically using my XBox as a glorified Roku box, watching a whole shelf of books go unread, and why?

Candy Crush Saga.

I hate myself so much right now.

Hot Toys Agent Phil Coulson Available for Pre-Order!

To follow up on Jacinta's previous post, Hot Toy's 1/6th scale Agent Phil Coulson figure is now available for pre-order from our friends at Sideshow Collectibles. As predicted, he is one of the cheaper figures. You can order him right no, right here: Marvel Collectibles Agent Phil Coulson (The Avengers) Sixth Scale Figure

For the record he has five sets of extra hands, the Destroyer gun, a pistol, sunglasses, headset, watch, walkie talkie, mobile phone, SHIELD folder, staff card and a stack of Captain America trading cards. Are you going to get some Son of Coul in your life? I was not, but now I am sorely tempted... especially if the TV show is great!

Nerd History: The Candy Desk

Hey there! Are you a Republican looking to run for Senate sometime in the future? If so, you may want to be aware of a Senate tradition - the Candy Desk!:

The Senate Candy Desk is a special desk on the Republican side of the aisle in the United States Senate which is kept stocked with various candies. The Senator who sits at the Candy Desk is responsible for ensuring that it is well supplied with sweets, and by tradition, the candy must originate from the Senator's home state. The Senate Candy Desk is one of the few exceptions to the seniority rule of desk seating in the Senate, as it is generally offered to a candy-loving Senator, who may in fact forfeit a seat further up in the chamber for the privilege of maintaining the Senate Candy Desk.

It is currently held by Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, and has been held by a variety of Senators over the years, including former presidential candidate John McCain of Arizona.

I just love that there's this candy desk tradition at all.

Stryder's Favourite Comics - 11/14/2012

The second week of November ramps up the Joker action with another 3 (or 4) "Death of the Family" tie-ins including the highly anticipated Batman #14!!  Let's hop right to it...

Batman #14 - "Hello, Brucie!  I hope you don't mind my borrowing your butler.  I'm planning something very special.  A celebration for you-know-who, and I hear he's simply the best."

"Death of the Family" officially starts HERE and The Joker is...WOW.  I don't know what else to say.  Normally, when I read comics, I'm just having fun...it's an entertaining romp and at the end of the day, I know things are all going to work out and the precious status quo will be maintained.  "Death of the Family" does not allow me that comfort.  Since the New 52 began, Scott Snyder has been teaching us that there IS no status quo...not in this universe!  The stakes are suddenly and thrillingly (some might say maddeningly) HIGH!

So when Bruce finds an audio cassette tape left for him in the Manor by the Joker, explaining how he's "borrowed" Alfred...I'm just as freaked out as he is (with good, albeit spoiler-y reason)!  The Joker's always been malicious, but he's often been funnier than he is scary...Often, he IS the joke!  No more...this Joker, wearing his own decaying face-skin as a mask?  He's much much scarier!  Still funny, too, but in an uncomfortable way...I feel sorry for Bruce and his "family".  Batman!  Save us!!

Oh, perhaps I don't mention it as often as I should, but the art in this title is FANTASTIC!  Kudos to Greg Capullo!  Some brilliant work!  His pencils remind me of Batman: The Animated Series in some ways, but all grown up...

Lots more Bat-Action, plus the Phantom Stranger and lots of Superboy after the JUMP!

Kickstart the Week: Sentinels of the Multiverse: Shattered Timelines by GreaterThanGames

Sentinels of the Multiverse is a comic book card game about original heroes (Legacy, Tachyon, etc..) and villains (Absolute Zero, etc..). The game has been mega-sucessful on Kickstarter and at conventions, and Greater Than Games is printing the 3rd expansion, Shattered Timelines, with the help of their faithful Kickstarter backers. But if you haven't jumped into Sentinels of the Multiverse yet, now is a great time. There are a LOT of cards to really mix up your games.

You'll see there is no video above, and it's because GreaterThanGames didn't even need it. The project funded its $20,000 goal in 4.5 hours. The fans are clawing for more expansions, and their support shows it. It also shows that the game is really good.

For $30 you will get a copy of the expansion (you need the base game to play). You could also opt for one of the other two expansions instead. For $70 you will get the base game and an expansion. And for $110 you will get the base game and all 3 expansions. This is highly suggested for those with competist issues like me.

If you're a fan of comic books and games, it's a no brainer. The characters and style are both cool and creative, and the creators are very passionate about the game. I think if you jump on now, you'll still be getting one of the first few expansions they release.

Who Wants to Play Chivalry: Medieval Warfare!

We are going to get medieval on your ass. Whose ass? YOUR ass, dear reader. We are desperate to lodge a battle-axe in your unsuspecting derriere thanks to crazy, bloody, downloadable multiplayer slugfest Chivalry: Medieval Warfare! Are you ready to get your faux Game of Thrones on!?

A $25 download from Steam, Chivalry pits armies of knights, archers, vanguards and men-at-arms against each other for objective based battles. You’ll defend kings, torch villages and operate death-dealing siege equipment. It’s a lot of fun but it’s difficult to master as you lumber around in your armor swinging wildly at hordes of screaming, flailing enemy knights. You’ll probably also accidentally behead some of your own guys.

If you’re playing Chivalry let us know, or if you want to join the battle let us know. In fact, if you just want to be friends with us on Steam, let us know. We haven’t been nearly proactive enough in building a community so, whether you’re ready to get medieval or not, perhaps this is a good time for everyone to begin to bond. I’m LMWrites on Steam. Hit me up! Preferably with a broadsword!

The Book Was Better Podcast Episode 31: High School Musical 2!

The Book Was Better is the podcast where Jessica and I subject ourselves to the hastily written tie-in novelisations of loved/loathed movies for your listening entertainment! Try to explain this concept to an older relative or coworker and thrill at their blank looks of disdainful bewilderment!

This week we return to East High to check in on our pals Troy, Gabriella, Chad, Sharpay and Screech in the novelisation of High School Musical 2! A book which features no music, no lyrics, and has only a handful of pages set in a school. This preposterous piece of teen melodrama fluff is guaranteed to make you feel 20 years older than you actually are!

You can download it right now from the official site, or why not subscribe to us on iTunes and help us enjoy the fickle, fleeting fame of the Internet!

My Zombie Peach Photo Shoot!

I recently shared my Black Widow photo shoot, so I figured it might be apropos to also share my latest foray into photographing cosplay which took place this past weekend. I got to shoot a Zombie Princess Peach with model Cherry Badgirl, who was the genius behind the concept, the make-up and the styling while I stood around like an idiot and pressed the shutter button.

This is apparently what happens if you don't rescue her in time...

More rapidly decomposing Peach after the jump!
