Review: Hot Toys '89 Batmobile

I don't know about you but when I think of the Batmobile, I think of the version from the Tim Burton films. It's the Batmobile of my childhood and it's just pure perfection. I love the Tumbler as much as everyone else but nothing can top this classic, classy design.

Well, those toy making geniuses over at Hot Toys have just released their very own '89 Batmobile in the gloriously massive 1/6th scale. Without even thinking of the cost or where the hell I am going to keep it I threw down a pre-order.

Well, this behemoth has finally arrived. Let's have a look..

Review: The Dark Knight Hot Toys DX-11 The Joker 2.0 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure! Phew!

While I eagerly await new releases, Coulson, Hulk and Catwoman, here's a catch-up review of a highly anticipated Hot Toys figure from a month or so ago. Behold the super fancy DX (deluxe?) Joker 2.0 which is a vast improvement on the original figure that they released around the time of The Dark Knight film. Here he is chilling with Bruce and Jim in the ol' interrogation room...

The DX releases are always something a little bit extra special and they've certainly outdone themselves on this one. You would be a sad clown to miss all the info and a TON of images... after the jump!

Review: Sideshow Collectibles Babydoll (Sucker Punch) Premium Format Figure!

Regular readers will know that I unapologetically love Sucker Punch. I’ve reviewed The Art of Sucker Punch, the Hot Toys Sucker Punch 1/6th scale Babydoll and Amber. I’ve said so much about Sucker Punch that I’m just going to quote myself:
“It’s a lurid, uneasy fever dream that fails to adequately establish its own rules and often grapples to even make sense. It's part music video, part fairy tale, and part cartoon. It's a bold experiment - most would say a failed experiment - but I can't help but be entranced by the unfaltering audaciousness of it all. If you are able to concede its premise, then it plays out like a twisted burlesque/action version of Walt Disney's Fantasia - a series of music-backed experimental vignettes, tied loosely together by a shared theme.”
Much like Fantasia, not everybody wants to sit through it, but I love it, and I am especially entranced by the visuals. So I was absolutely thrilled when our very good friends at Sideshow Collectibles sent me their stunning Babydoll Premium Format figure to review. Regardless of your views on the film, this is well worth a look. Especially if you - like me - have been on the cusp about venturing into Sideshow’s Premium Format line of high end collectibles, because I am going to talk quite a bit about that line in general.

Review: Oh Yeah... Lego Minifigures Series 10 is Out!

The much sought after, blind-packaged Lego Minifigures Series 10 is now available to purchase! In fact, they’ve been available for the last couple of weeks. So where have we been? Busy? Absent? Drunk? Curled in a tight foetal ball, gently rocking ourselves to sleep? The truth is a little bit of everything. But we’re here now, and we have some of these blocky yellow buggers in hand.

At first glance this series isn’t quite so exciting as the last one, featuring a lot of repurposed pieces and some less than inspiring characters. But there’s still gold to be had once you dig deeper. Quite literally in fact, for series 10 also contains the extremely rare and coveted Mr. Gold!

What’s that all about? We’ll open some up... after the jump!

Review: Sci-Fi Revoltech 003 Kaiju Booska! Whatever That Means!

WAIT! STOP! DON’T YOU DARE SCROLL PAST!

Don’t dismiss this fascinating, well-written, culturally significant article just because you’re some Western dummy that doesn’t know what a Kaiju Booska is. I don’t know what one is either, but goddamn am I determined to find out, and I want you with me, tightly holding my hand. There’s safety in numbers!

But what I DO know is, who can resist a face like this?

I happened upon Booska after recently reviewing the super-articulated Revoltech Iron Mark VII. I was browsing further Revoltech items and was filled with a heady mixture of joy and trepidation when the startling visage of giraffe/bear/baby Booska loomed alluring on the screen. At just $20 shipped, how could I resist? I couldn’t! And now I have to write an article about it to try to justify my purchase.

But if you love Japan and/or you love monsters and/or you’re really bored, then take my hand and join me... after the jump!
