375 NES Illustrations By Campbell Whyte!

Campbell Whyte's fantastic daily 8-Bit Dreams illustration series has hit the one year mark. In one year he illustrated the first 375 Nintendo games (there were 799 total) in tiny, wonderful detail. And to celebrate, he took a much needed break, but also compiled this video of every single piece of artwork from the series so far.

Check out this video for 4 minutes of awesome retro gaming goodness.

Many of these are still available in Campbell's etsy store for just $50 each. The originals look wonderful in person (I have 7 of them!), so now is the time to jump in and get some of your favorites.

This Week's 8 Bit Dreams Illustrations - A Boy And His Blob, Cabal and more!

Campbell Whyte's 8 Bit Dreams series is going strong (daily NES illustrations revealed alphabetically by year of release) and it's just hitting 1990. Even in just the first few letters of the alphabet, there were some solid titles.

What I love so much about this series is that it's providing an all new way to discover old games. There are some REALLY awesome illustrations for games that I've never played, and some I've never even heard of. Seeing the illustrations makes me want to play the game, and when researching the game it makes me want to buy the illustrations. It's a terribly awesome circle of events.

Campbell Whyte's Nintendo Illustration Series, 8 Bit Dreams - Recap and Contest (Contest Ends Today)

Since February, Campbell Whyte has been creating daily illustrations under the collective title, 8 Bit Dreams. The series will eventually consist of individual artwork for every single game that was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System. All 799 of them.

Metroid (1986)

He has been posting them on his site in date order, starting with 10 Yard Fight in 1985 and right now he's just getting into 1989. Each 5"x5" watercolor is available for sale (only $50 for an original and $10 for a print) and Campbell will also create a custom original for the same price. There has been a lot of good stuff so far, which I'll recap below, but there are still a ton of amazing games left.

After the jump, I will recap some of my favorites so far, and each week I will showcase the newest illustrations. But before anything you might want to click on this link for a contest that ends today. http://www.campbellwhyte.com/uncategorized/guess-the-stack/ If you can guess the height of the stack, or the amount of illustrations, you can win your very own piece of the 8 Bit Dreams series. Enter before it's too late! Contest ends today, Australian time (i.e.: the future), so you only have a few hours left!

Onto the illustrations..
