I was able to get someone to watch my 3 children tonight, so I could take my wife out and watch a movie about someone very irresponsibly babysitting 3 children. Luckily my babysitter is my mother and not Jonah Hill.

Friday Night Movie Review: Louis CK: Live At The Beacon Theater

I had fully intended to watch something else, but the new Louis CK live performance DVD would not leave my mind. Links and praise about the downloadable performance have been popping up all over my Twitter feed and Facebook account all week long, so I decided to finally give in. It's hard to resist when the hour long comedy show is only $5 through Paypal, and you get a few streams as well as a few downloads. It took about 2 and a half clicks and it was mine, which is more convenient than most other methods, even YouTube (which is slow as ever now) or torrents. It also is as cheap as buying a medium sized app, which I don't think twice about.

Ryan Reynolds Space Cop - or RRSC - is a 2011 documentary about the tough times former pizza place owner Ryan Van Wilder Reynolds was having after he broke up with Scarlett Ass-Mirror Johansson, and how it led him to briefly become a policeman. In space.

Friday Night Movie Review: Cronos

Now that we’re doing our own individual Friday reviews, I’m going to try and be a little more thorough than I have been before. This could either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much you like to hear me talk. Apparently, I think it’s great because I never can shut the hell up.

Anyway, movie…Today I thought I’d get into some “culture” and do a review of a Criterion release Blu-Ray I picked up recently. For anyone who doesn’t know, Criterion is all about making “important films” available. They put a lot of effort into preserving the quality of the appearance and the quality of the content of movies, and their catalog is really pretty amazing in both its depth and sheer amount of awesome. They also tend to be pricier than most releases. Needless to say, when Barnes and Noble started running all their Criterion DVD and Blu-Rays at half off, it was bad for my bank account.

Friday Night Movie Review: The Three Musketeers! (2011)

Oh hey, you guys, remember Pirates of the Carribean!? Remember how much goddamn filthy money that series made with its flamboyant quirky characters, giant set-pieces, and over-the-top action!? Surely there's a similarly swashbuckling story we can give the same treatment to? What about Three Musketeers? Could we sex that up to appeal to an attention deficient crowd that will probably text through it anyway? Come to think of it, what's Orlando Bloom doing?...

Paul W.S. Anderson's 2011 embellishing of Alexandre Dumas' classic The Three Musketeers is not the sort of film that I would normally see. And yet I was entertained in spite of myself. Does that mean it's a good film? Oh god no, but it delivers everything it promises. Find out more of what I thought, and watch the trailer, in my Friday Night mini-review, after the jump!
