Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 9: Berbils

Oh shit, you guys! Thundercats is back with episode 9: Berbils, which is largely about the reproductive mysteries of robot ewoks and smashing things with a hammer.

I toyed with skipping out on my obligation to continue to provide you with these recaps, but then the Power of Omens surged inside me and I decided that it would be a dick move. Because somebody out there has to enjoy Thundercats and my recaps -  even though close friends constantly tell me, "Oh, I read all your stuff. Except for the Thundercats recaps. Because I don't care about Thundercats!"

Dudes... you don't even need to care about Thundercats to enjoy my well-considered recaps. Because I am going to break it all down for you and explain it to you in an extremely seductive way. Thunderschool is in session and you are all my students.

Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 8: The Duelist and the Drifter!

Today my epic, dickish, man-cat adventure continues and I venture further into the world of the 2011 Thundercats reboot. So far the cats' aimless forest wanderings have been relatively cool, even though I am constantly stressed by the fact that supposed "main characters" Cheetara and Tigra still have absolutely nothing to do! Maybe they'll grow so bored in this episode that they'll start sloppily making out in the background. We live in hope!

Last week's episode saw meathead Lion-O being sucked into a musty old book where he took on the persona of his ancestor Ye Olde Mr. Muttonchops, so I'm really hoping that this episode actually moves forward and advances the present day story. Let's check out our preview pic:

Who the hell is that jackanape!? I bet he gets ten times the screen time of Tigra. I guess we'll all find out... after the jump! (SPOILERS!)

Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 7: Legacy!

How many episodes is this series anyway? What have I unknowingly committed to here? Ten? Twenty? Fifty-five? A thousand? How long can a group of homeless man-cats, led by the super dickish Lion-O, wander aimlessly through a forest?

That said, last week's episode was pretty great, with C3-PO style cock-blocking,  Indiana Jones style traps, obscene mummy Mumm-ra hulking out and spewing lasers. You know what else I've been watching? Hell's Kitchen. And that Gordon Ramsey hulks out a thousand times worse than Mumm-Ra. That guy would head-butt Wolverine and dent his adamantium skull. He's all, "YOU! DONKEY! WATCH YOUR F***ING MEAT! OR YOU'LL BE WATCHING MY F***ING MEAT, FLAPPING AGAINST YOUR FAT F***ING FOREHEAD!" Ha ha! I love that show.

Oh right! Thundercats! Here's the preview image:

Hmm... an episode called "Legacy" and here's Ye Olde Mr. Muttonchops Cat. I can sense some flashbacks coming on...

Join me after the jump and we'll figure it out! (SPOILERZ!):

Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 6: Journey to the Tower of Omens!

Oh Thundercats 2011! What a rocky, tumultuous relationship we have! Sometimes I want to rub your orange fuzzy belly and sometimes I want to stuff you in a sack and drop you down a well. In a mere five episodes you've managed to kill a king, parley with pirates, prance with plant-people, sideline Tigra, and get nunchukked by Panthro. And Cheetara still isn't getting any. But I'm gonna' stick with you, brother! We've come this far.

Well this looks promising!
Last episodes, things in Kitty City were finally getting a little more exciting. Can Episode 6: Journey to the Tower of Omens continue to pump up the volume, or has Thundercats - much like my own cat - taken a shit where it's not supposed to? If Mumm-Ra finally wigs out like he does in that picture then I think I'm already sold!

Join me after the jump and we'll find out! (Spoilerz abound!)

Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 5: Old Friends! SAMOFLANGE!

I've finally caught up on the 2011 Thundercats episodes and can begin recapping/reviewing them in a timely and responsible fashion! After being severely underwhelmed by the last two shows, I tentatively enter Episode Five: Old Friends with a number of pressing questions:

1) Will the underused and objectiveless Tigra be forced to solve Suduko puzzles in the background?
2) Will the newly returned Panthro whip Lion-EmO with his nunchuks for being a large, gelatinous sissy?
3) And why isn't anybody trying to mack on Cheetara?

Join me after the jump and we'll soon know!

Thundercats Thunder-recaps Episode 4: Song of the Petalars

(I'm still playing catch-up on these as I started a little late. Once I've done this one I'm back on track and I can get the reviews out much closer to when the episode airs).

I loved the first two episodes and was somewhat underwhelmed by the third. Can Episode 4: Song of the Petalars reignite my fantasy man-cat interest, or will my resolve and interest wane? (Just like yours already has when it comes to these posts!) Will Tigra do anything? Will super-dick Lion-O's arrogance be entertaining or annoying? And will he stab a filthy mummy in the throat?

There's only one solid way to find out and it's after the jump! (Heavy spoilers apply! I am going to ruin the ending!).

Thundercats Thunderecaps Episode 3: Ramlak Rising

As previously posted, I was blind-sided by how much I enjoyed the opening two-parter of the 2011 reboot of Thundercats, so much so that I think I might try to stick with the series as share my thoughts with you as each episode breaks. Episode four has aired so now I have to quickly get us up to speed with episode 3: Ramlak Rising.

Say "snarf" again, muthaf*cka, I dare you.
Last time evil lizards and a filthy old mummy went totally ape-shit in Kitty City leaving our arrogant heroes either dead or in disarray. What went down this time, and how did I feel about it? Find out right after the jump!

Thundercats 2011 is Surprisingly Good!

The original He-Man series was horrible enough, and I loved He-Man like the oiled, barbarian, body-builder father-figure I never had. So with interest in the He-Man cartoon continually waning, I had zero investment in its cheap knock-off Thundercats - in fact, as a child lurid-musclebound-scifi-fantasy-snob I never even owned a single Thundercats toy.

And then, several years ago, a genius think tank decided to reboot He-Man with "ZOMG!MOREAWESOMEDESIGNS!" and punches that actually connected. And it was STILL pretty dull and shittily written, especially when compared to other cartoons of its time.

But wait! What's this!
So when it was announced that they were rebooting Thundercats this year - with an anime twist - my eyes were rolling so far that I could draw you a detailed diagram of the inside of my head. And then, despite these hollow protests, I INEXPLICABLY watched the first two episodes. Was it any good? Surpisingly: "hell" and "yes".
