Pre-Order Hot Toys 1966 Batman and Robin!

BIFF! POW! BANG! Those are three words a lazy writer might use to introduce the pre-order release info for Hot Toys’ upcoming sixth-scale Batman and Robin figures, capturing the likenesses of Adam West and Burt Ward from the sixties Batman TV show and film!

I didn’t develop an interest in Batman until Burton’s 1989 shake-up of the character, and was outwardly dismissive of the sixties series. Turns out I just didn’t understand the joke. Now I’m finally beginning to see the appeal of what was essentially an tribute to the sillier Silver Age, and I think it’s cool that Hot Toys have injected a bit of humour into their galleries, capturing the true spirit of the show. The merchandising rights for 1966 Batman have been tied up for decades, but now they’re finally freed, the floodgates have opened.

You can pre-order these Batman here: Batman - DC Comics Collectibles Batman (1966 Film) DC Comics Sixth Scale Figure ... or Robin here: Batman - DC Comics Collectibles Robin (1966 Film) DC Comics Sixth Scale Figure ... right now from our good friends at Sideshow. Or join me for many more images and mostly ignorant commentary... after the jump!

Pre-Order Hot Toys Mandarin 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure!

When Hot Toys first announced they were going to produce a figure of Ben Kingsley's portrayal of "The Mandarin" in Iron Man 3, there were a lot of tears before bedtime. It turns out that many fans didn't want clever satire about America's blind hatred towards evil foreign figureheads and how they are used to distract the populace from what is really going on behind the scenes. No, fans wanted to rally again an evil foreign figurehead. The devil you know I suppose. Some even suggested that the film Mandarin was a disservice to the fantastic character from the comics. I would love to know which of these comics the Mandarin was fantastic in, because in all the ones I read he was a ridiculous racial stereotype.

SOOOO... now is the moment of truth. Pre-orders have opened up for the Hot Toys Mandarin and it will be very interesting to see how many of you are willing to add him to your shelf. I personally think he's awesome...

Pre-Order Hot Toys Iron Man Mark 17 (XVII) Heartbreaker 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure!

We’re going to see a lot of new Hot Toys figures teased over this week’s San Diego Comic Con, but there’s one that you can secure yourself right now! Pre-orders are live for yet another, Iron Man 3 armour, this time the dapper and debonair Mark XVII, affectionately known as the Heartbreaker. I assume it earns this moniker as it is specifically built to lure, attract and endure naive supermodels with low self-esteem. Heartbreaker sports an iconic chest design and powerful pussy-magnets in both palms. I’m hoping that the entire thing will reek of cologne.

If that’s already sold you, you can pre-order it right this very minute from our good pals at Sideshow Collectibles here: Iron Man 3 - Hot Toys Marvel Movie Masterpiece Series Iron Man Mark 17 - Heartbreaker Armor Sixth Scale Figure MMS Series (Hot Toys) (and don't hesitate! History shows that these things sell out before release then go for crazy prices on eBay).

Pre-Order Hot Toys Man of Steel Superman, plus Sideshow's Premium Format Man of Steel Superman! That's a lot of Superman!

Plucky Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel is currently dividing critics, thrilling fans, and punching audiences in the face. Unless you're in Australia. Thanks to my gloating about getting both Iron Man 3 AND Star Trek early, us ruffians in the penal colony must wait another couple of weeks before being punched in the face by Supes. But don't fret... we can still look at all the pretty pictures of Hot Toys' upcoming 1/6th scale Superman figure that have recently been released...

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Don't be ridiculous. It's a pissed off, muscular Henry Cavill torpedoing towards you, ready to shove both fists down your throat.

If that's enough to sell you already then you can leap over and pre-order this Supermaniac from our very good pals at Sideshow here: Man of Steel: Superman - Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series Man of Steel: Superman Movie Masterpiece Sixth Scale Figure

But if you want more images and ill-informed commentary - plus a look at Sideshow's new premium format statue - then you'd bet join me after the super-powered jump...

Pre-Order Hot Toys Robocop and ED-209!

Your move, Creep! Hot Toys has delved into the Robocop license before, but that was when they were wee fledgling babbies, not the giants of screen-accurate 1/6th scale sculpting that they've become today! I recently re-watched crazy Paul Verhoeven's ultra-violent/satirical original film and I have to say that it still holds up. As a child of the eighties, I have to admit that I'm mighty tempted by Hot Toys' latest offerings.

His father was a man. His mother was a machine. He is half man. Half machine. All cop. Or something. Check it out!

If that's all you need to see, you can pre-order him here from our good friends at Sideshow: RoboCop - Hot Toys RoboCop MMS Diecast Sixth Scale Figure - Hot Toys

Or join me for far more pictures, a mechanical chair, and ED-209... after the jump!

Hot Toys Catch Up! Pre-Order War Machine Mark II, The Joker (1989 Mime Version), and Roadblock!

Those maniac, detail-obsessed artisans at Hong Kong's Hot Toys are still cranking out product with reckless abandon, and more power to them! Many collectors I know are now clearing out their years of K-mart-purchased kid-orientated crap, and graduating to fewer, high-end, screen-accurate art pieces designed for the distinguished (wo)man-child.

There are three new offerings that our pals at Sideshow Collectibles have up for pre-order, not the least of which is this new diecast metal War Machine Mark II from Iron Man 3 - a film that this armour doesn't actually appear in. But don't let the facts stop you from enjoying the most definitive version of this character so far...

You can rush ahead and pre-order him here:
Hot Toys Die Cast Marvel Series - Iron Man 3 War Machine Mark II EXCLUSIVE Limited Edition Sixth Scale Figure - MMS Diecast Series (Hot Toys)

But I do recommend that you come straight back, not just for more images and commentary but also to see the two other amazing figures that Hot Toys has announced. All that... after the jump!

Pre-Order Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XXXV Red Snapper!

Red Snapper. It sounds like an unfortunate euphemism, but it's actually the nickname of the Mark XXXV, one of the billion new armours that Tony Stark has constructed for Iron Man 3. What is it's function? That I can't tell you. I guess I'll find out when I see the movie tonight, providing it doesn't glance by in a fraction of a second. Either way, it looks pretty cool.

Hot Toys has just released images of their upcoming (December) 1/6th scale collectible figure of the Red Snapper, part of their new Power Pose series. This means less articulation than the regular line, but you can expect to receive a figure capable of more dynamic, screen accurate poses. Take a look at this monster...

If you want to get straight to business, then you can pre-order this chunky Stark monkey from our pals at Sideshow right now:

Pre-order Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XLII DIECAST 1/6th Scale Figure!

Hot on the tail of the 1/6th scale Iron Patriot, Hot Toys presents the next in their new diecast series: a metal, shiny version of Iron Man Mark XLII, just one of the 3,500 suits that Stark appears to have in his audaciously large collection. However, this time Tony's not looking so hot...

But fear not! This figure actually has interchangeable parts, so if you're not so keen on displaying an Iron Man that has just had the crap kicked out of it by the terrorist antics of Fu Manchu-sporting villain, then you can also display him clean and factory new.

If that's enough to sell you, pre-order him straight away from our friends at Sideshow here:

Pre-Order Hot Toys Iron Patriot Sixth Scale Figure! (Diecast Series!)

The mighty artisans at Hot Toys have just revealed the Iron Man 3 figure that everybody has been waiting for - the 1/6th scale, star-spangled Iron Patriot, now lovingly rendered for extra realism in heavy, shiny diecast metal! Complete with light up eyes, chest, and palms, take a look at the following patriotic image and just try to tell me that it doesn't make you want to eat a cheeseburger astride a crying bald eagle on the 4th of July...

Review: Hot Toys Thor (The Avengers) 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure!

When Marvel first announced that they were intending to take a billionaire in a robot suit, a frozen World War II super soldier, a green behemoth, and a thunder God and put them all together on the big screen it seemed far too silly to actually work. And yet they did just that. So it turns out that it still looked kind of silly, but despite all that I now get to assemble this superhero silliness on my shelf. And, let's be honest, Thor was always the silliest. Once they made him work they proved they could now get away with anything. (Yep, even a talking, rocket-toting raccoon!).

But I digress. Hot Toys' Thor 1/6th scale collectible figure, capturing fellow Australian Chris Hemsworth's meaty likeness and flamboyant costume, straight out of The Avengers film has arrived, hot on the coveted tail of the recent Black Widow...

I have him and, guess what, I'm going to tell you all about him, and clog up your precious internets with about a billion pictures. You can enjoy this gross intrusion... after the jump!

Big Bad Toy Store Highlights! Let's Talk Iron Man 3, DC New 52, Domo, Minecraft and More!

It's that time again to scan over the lists of freshly announced and ready for pre-order toys and collectibles from our friends at Big Bad Toy Store! Sure, they're a sponsor, but to show my hard-hitting journalistic integrity, I only show you the coolest (or most bizarre) items that catch my discerning collector's eye! Like this inevitable set of Iron Man 3 pop vinyl figures....

I doubt it features too prominently in the film (it's Tony in the middle of nowhere without his armour, remember?) but this Iron Patriot design sure looks to be a highlight. It makes me want to proudly eat a hotdog in front of a crying American eagle. And I'm Australian! There's plenty more similar Funko Iron Man effigies at the link: IRON MAN 3 FUNKO ITEMS

And there's plenty more cutting edge commentary... after the jump!

A wealth of amazing high end collectibles have been revealed or made available for pre-order this week  so here's an image heavy round up to show you what we have to look forward to. This is the stuff that I'm really into. I'm scaling back all the cheap crap from my collection and focusing on detailed, screen accurate, well-made pieces.

Much like this freshly announced Hot Toys 1/6th scale Tony Stark with workshop from the rapidly approaching Iron Man 3....

You can see a lot more of him, plus Hot Toys Iron Man 3 busts, a 1/6th scale comics-style Joker and a 1/6th scale Bossk... after the jump! Now UPDATED with pre-order info!

Big Bad Toy Store Highlights! Let’s Talk Gremlins, GI JOE, Bioshock and More!

Let’s cast our discerning eyes over the newest list of pre-orders from our pals at Big Bad Toy Store and pick out some toy and collectible points of interest that you and I can chat about. Like this bit of fantasy fulfilment that I feel like I’ve been waiting for my entire life:

Did you ever watch the first Gremlins and think, “This is good, but surely the gremlins themselves could afford to be a little sexier?”. Well Gremlins 2 had you covered with a seminal moment featuring female Greta (I thought she was Lady Gremlina?) who was proof of what happens when you show a mogwai a porn magazine after midnight. When I was really young I had a crush on the Miss Piggy puppet and Greta here almost eclipsed it.

This is a 1:1 scale replica stunt puppet, standing nearly 30 inches tall and with her own metal display stand, outfit and wig. BBTS have her for $60 off list price. Snap up this wonderful piece of eighties movie memorabilia which is only marginally easier to explain than a Fleshlight.

What else caught my keen eye?... Join me after the jump!

First Look at Pop Vinyl Game of Thrones Series 2!

There really aren't many people left in the world who don't have a Funko Pop Vinyl figure fashioned after them. These beady-eyed, mouthless collectible vinyl figures appear to have infected every single marketable franchise, and perhaps a few non-marketable ones as well! If it's on the big, small, or computer screen then rest assured it will be quickly sculpted into a little swollen headed effigy to stare blankly ahead on your shelf. I need to stop my house from being plagued by these, but many are too tempting, including this second batch of figures based on HBO's wildly successful blood and boobs fantasy epic Game of Thrones. These figures seem to pose the question... "What if all the frigging characters were midgets?" It might look a lot like this:

See! There's little Jon Snow ready to be balanced atop your highest wall! He's probably the most recognisable of this series and as such my favourite of the bunch. But who else appears in this wave? Can you guess the other five? I tried and failed miserably. Now I want to make you miserable as well.

Let's find out... after the jump!

Pre-Order Hot Toys Snake Eyes (GI JOE Retaliation) 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure!

Mildly anticipated movie sequel GI JOE Retaliation/Procrastination may have been delayed until later this year, but our good friends at Hot Toys are still keeping busy with the surprise reveal of their upcoming Snake Eyes 1/6th scale collectible figure, based on his appearance in the tardy film.

Portrayed by Ray "Darth Maul" Park, this silent, stealthy (except for the sub-machinegun) hi-tech ninja is permanently encased in a rubber tomb, punishment for drinking from the Sacred Soda Fountain of the Dragon Monkey Emperor. Okay, I don't really know anything about Snake Eyes, but I do know that he looks amazingly badass, and that Hot Toys always produces high quality work!

Eager beavers can pre-order him from our pals at Sideshow right here:

Hot Toys Agent Phil Coulson Available for Pre-Order!

To follow up on Jacinta's previous post, Hot Toy's 1/6th scale Agent Phil Coulson figure is now available for pre-order from our friends at Sideshow Collectibles. As predicted, he is one of the cheaper figures. You can order him right no, right here: Marvel Collectibles Agent Phil Coulson (The Avengers) Sixth Scale Figure

For the record he has five sets of extra hands, the Destroyer gun, a pistol, sunglasses, headset, watch, walkie talkie, mobile phone, SHIELD folder, staff card and a stack of Captain America trading cards. Are you going to get some Son of Coul in your life? I was not, but now I am sorely tempted... especially if the TV show is great!

Hot Toy's Reveal Resident Evil's Ada Wong!

It feels like it's been a little bit quiet on the Hot Toys front, with most of the reveals of our favourite eerily realistic 1/6th scale figures happening around convention season. But those plucky artistes in Hong Kong are still cranking new work out, but not what you might expect. We've mostly admired their movie based lines, but they also do release the odd video game based figure, case in point being Resident Evil 4's - or as it's known in Japan Biohazard 4's - sultry Ada Wong.

Could this open the door to an ultra-realistic Hot Toys Pac-Man? Join me after the jump for more images and discussion!
