Review: Marvel Minimates Deadpools Assemble Convention Exclusive!

One of the rare treasures that Jacinta brought me back from her recent jaunt to STGCC (Singapore Toy Game and Comic Convention) was this exclusive set of Marvel Minimates, previously available at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Entitled Deadpools Assemble it’s a collection of fourth-wall-breaking, fan-favourite, mercenary Deadpool pretending to be some of Marvel’s heavy hitters. (And Cable).

As Marvel’s wackiest, most irreverent character, Deadpool is easy to write terribly and difficult to execute well. But even when I’m repelled by the material itself, there’s been some pretty solid premises - and I can’t help but but endeared by at least the concept of the character (plus it’s Rob Liefeld’s one great design!). (Okay, he may have been trying to draw Spider-Man at the time). Regardless, everybody loves Deadpool to some degree so why not celebrate him in this bizarre way...

Now I might not get all the references but I can provide you with a comprehensive visual guide and tell you what I enjoyed about this set... after the jump!'

Review: The Avengers Minimates (Movie Style!)

Although the film has been out for over a month now, The Avengers merchandise is really just starting to hit its stride. With new stuff showing up all the time, and plenty more on the horizon, I succumbed to starting my very own tiny, blocky, malformed, noseless version of the team. No nose? Wait... then how does Hawkeye keep his sunglasses on?

Yes, I am of course talking about the movie Avengers Minimates two-packs, which are a relatively cheap way for you to "assemble":

The Blocking Dead

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.....

The Season Finale this past Sunday, and my issues with it and the pacing of Season 2 overall not withstanding, I gotta admit I still really like the show The Walking Dead on AMC. The mid-season finale was WAY more gut-wrenching though. And still resonates as the best episode they have ever done.

I'm surprised I have not turned it into a weekly article here. Well, not that surprised.

How do you do a weekly article on a show that lasts for 13 weeks and takes a break in between? I guess I could always write about stuff related to the show. The comic book, the over-priced McFarlane action figures that I want and am not getting, or THESE babies...

Yup. In case you hadn't heard...

Catching up with Minimates

It's been a long time since I've bought any Minimates. In fact, it's been a pretty long time since I've bought any non-vinyl action figures. I'm guessing it's been about 2-3 years. But before that it, I was pretty much knee deep in block figures.

I prefer Kubricks (which I can't find) and Palz (which I miss terribly), but Minimates are kicking some serious square ass right now. The shelves at Toys R' Us were seriously stocked yesterday, and I saw a bunch of new(er) Minimates for the first time.
