Perth Supanova 2013 Preview: The Fruitless Pursuits Stall!

Perth’s biggest pop culture convention, Supanova, is this weekend and Fruitless Pursuits will be there in force! For the first time we will be there with our very own stall and we will have lots of awesome stuff for sale. Plus we’ll be taking plenty of photos of cosplay and events to feature on our site!

You can come and find us at Stall L in Artist’s Alley, but if you’re having trouble finding us, look out for our giant poster showing off our brand new chibi caricatures, created by amazing artist and friend, Linda Foote...

It shows off all six of the Perth team who will be at the stall or roaming the floor, so keep an eye out for us. You’ll see these images (plus images of our American Team) popping up more often on the site moving forward, and hopefully they will assist in you getting to know us.

Tuesday Bounty: Glorious Bounty Book Three Draws to a Close.

It's Tuesday, and that not only means a brand new page of humour/sci-fi comic series Glorious Bounty (drawn by Grug and written by me) but it's also the final page of this current storyline! Yes, this is the final page of Book Three: The Convoluted Killbots! We did it you guys!

When we last left the crew they were chillin' like villains and teasing Bruce about the fact that his brain belongs to a woman (a detail he does not remember from their ordeal).

So that was the good news, and now the bad. There will be a (hopefully) short hiatus before Book Four due to a drawing injury. All will be fine, and the book is written, but it might take a few weeks to get us up and running again. But stay tuned and we'll let you know as soon as Glorious Bounty Book Four: Planet of the Lacklustre Lizards launches!

Tuesday Bounty: Glorious Bounty Kicks Back.

Tuesday Bounty: Glorious Bounty Sells Out at Supanova!

Grug and I are freshly back from the Supanova Pop Culture Expo debut of the well-received print version of Glorious Bounty Book Three: The Convoluted Killbots! A huge thank you to everyone who visited us and supported our books! We met and caught up with some very cool people. Meanwhile, you slowpokes online are still reading the end of the story page by laborious page! (Just a couple of pages to go!).

When we last left the Bounty crew, Bruce and Deevis had been returned to their reconstructed bodies and everything looked like it was going to be OK. Everything is going to be OK? Right?

Supanova Pop Culture Expo is This Weekend and We'll Be There!

Supanova is Australia's biggest pop culture expo and this weekend it will be right here in Perth at the Claremont Showgrounds. Our intrepid local team is going to be there and we will bring you all the mad scoops! Which is to say, we will take photos of some things, buy even more things, and attempt to talk to a few people.

Supanova grows bigger every single year and this one is shaping up to be an unstoppable juggernaut of intimidatingly epic proportions. Guests this year include: Christopher "Doc Emmet Brown" Lloyd, Mini-Me Verne Troyer, stunning cyborg Tricia Helfer, the not-so-expendable Eric Roberts, Natalia Tena and Alfie Allen from F**k Yeah Game of Thrones, and the incredible Jennifer Hale voice of my beloved Femshep! All of them are bound to be equal parts pumped and bewildered at finding themselves in the most isolated capital city in the world!

But that's not enough! It's a huge exhibition hall so why not cram even MORE types of celebrities in there! Authors include: Christopher "Eragon" Paolini, and Delorean owner Matthew Reilly. Comic guests include: Tony Moore, David Mack, and artist and ThreeA toys guru Ashley Wood! This is just the tip of the iceberg! EVERYONE will be there. Maybe even Batman...

Tuesday Bounty: Glorious Bounty Gets it Together!

Holy crap it’s Tuesday! And that can only mean a brand new page of sci-fi/humour comic series Glorious Bounty drawn by the rough-hewn hands of Edward J. Grug III and written by me. BUT FIRST... a (relatively) exciting announcement!

The print version of Glorious Bounty Book Three: The Convoluted Killbots will be available at giant pop culture expo Supanova THIS WEEKEND. Grug and I will both be there hocking our meager wares like shameless/desperate hucksters. So if you’re in Perth, drop by and pick up Killbots, plus a bonus PK button and Grug will probably even pop a sketch in it for you. We’ll also have copies of Book One: The Sexy Virus and Book Two: The Sticky Goat Affair, so there’s zero excuse to avoid transferring your hard-won money to our pockets! And if you’re not in Perth, stay tuned because the book will soon be available via other (illicit) methods!

So after years of plugging away at sci-fi/humour webcomic Glorious Bounty in silence (drawn by Edward J. Grug III and written by me) we had the great honour of being featured at Comics Alliance today as part of their Best Webcomics Ever (This Week) series! Comics Alliance had this to say:

"Almost like if Johnny Ryan did a more light-hearted take on The Bulletproof Coffin, but set in outer space, Glorious Bounty has the brillant combination of low-brow art, violence, porn jokes and jerk characters you can't help but love."
