Sunday Evening Self-Promotion

As it's been a quiet weekend, and since what I "do" when I'm not working is just write more, I wanted to take a moment and let you know of a few things I've been working on if you're so inclined:

* Not Terrific, but Competent: As I noted a while back, I'm a new father. I'm not so sure I'm necessarily good at it yet, but I've been posting more often since my kid was born three months ago. He's pretty great, and I'm chronicling what it's like for someone who's a little (lot) nerdy and not at all traditional to be a dad in a more modern time. I'm having some fun with it.

* If It's Too Loud: My friend Ken was one of the main bloggers/"Token Dad" over at The Music Moms, and we finally dove in and decided to start our own blog instead of talking about it like we have been since 2006. The angle is a little different, as we both still enjoy going to live shows, but it's becoming increasingly apparent that we're the creepy old guys in the back that we used to make fun of ten years ago, so there's that. I'll still share music-related posts here when it's on-topic/appropriate, but if you're looking for some more detailed album reviews (which is more Ken's department) or some old man musings, check it out.

Happy Birthday! Fruitless Pursuits Turns One Today!

Just a quick post to recognise that Fruitless Pursuits celebrates its first birthday today!

One year ago a group of us on a creative forum decided to combine our powers and launch a site together where we were able to talk about all the nerdy stuff we were into it, and also share our own projects. Since then we've had a lot of contributor changes and focus changes, our share of quiet times and busy times, but we've endured longer than I think any of us probably thought we would, and I think we're starting to find our voice. In fact it's hard to believe it's only been a year!

A big thanks to all our contributors, past, present and future, to the wonderful people who sponsor us, and an especially big thanks to you for reading and supporting us! Happy birthday.

Tuesday Bounty! Glorious Bounty Book 3, Page 4!

Tuesday Bounty! Yet More Glorious Bounty!

Another Tuesday means yet another page of Grug and my glorious serial sci-fi comic series Glorious Bounty!

When we last left the shifty crew they had arrived on a strange insect planet and had descended into a back-alley underground complex to see a "friend" of Deevis's who can supposedly solve the origin of Furious Bruce's mysterious face. But no one trusts that asshole Deevis so he's wearing a detonator collar that will explode if he attempts to double-cross the team yet again.

Glorious Bounty: The Sticky Goat Affair

I just now posted the last page of the second book of Glorious Bounty.

If you didn't know us before this blog started, or if you generally zone out when Luke or I are talking, Glorious Bounty is a comic written and coloured by Luke Milton and drawn by me. It's about four hapless bounty hunters. It's a sci fi comic, it's funny, and it's not really what you think it's going to be reading what I just wrote.
