Sponsor News: Let's Discuss Scarlett Witch, Transforming Avengers, One Direction and More!

It’s that time of the week where I get to cast my seasoned Collectologist eye over the very best new toys and collectible pre-orders and releases from our good friends at Big Bad Toy Store! Much like air, and shelter, these are the things that you need to have! Like these!

AVENGERS 3.75" FIGURES - WAVE 04
It’s the newest wave of The Avengers 3.75 inch figures (wave 4) available in either cases or sets. The new figures here are Samuel L. Jackson toting a colossal weapon as the depth perception-less Nick Fury, a super-articulated Iron Man Mark VII (because triangles are ass) and a mystery un-named Movie Villain?

Thanos? Seems doubtful to me that they’d blow their load by revealing his full costume for the first time as a figure. My guess is Thanos’ fetishist henchman “The Other”, but maybe it will be something totally left field like Evil Tony Stark who is completely clean-shaven. You can pre-order them by the case or purchase a set of the three brand new figures right here!
Join me after the break for a lot more stuff!

AVENGERS TRANSFORMERS CROSSOVERS
Avengers Transformers Crossovers are figures of your favourite Avengers, except now they transform into vehicles! Ever wanted to ponder the irony of a Captain America who transforms into a gas-guzzling Humvee? Well, now you can!

I know that these won’t be everybody’s cup of tea (Big gulp of Mountain Dew?) (Still thinking of you, America!) but I think that kids would have a blast with them. Plus I kind of like collecting the more oddball items. If they can make a Black Widow who transforms into a massage chair, I’m into it! They’re $24.999 each or you can get a case of all three for $64.99!

"HUSH" REAL ACTION HEROES FIGURES - BATMAN, JOKER

Based on Jim Lee’s art for the critically acclaimed Hush, here’s 1/6th scale Batman and Joker wearing real cloth clothes! They’re $164.99 each, available for pre-order now. I really hope that this starts a trend of releasing large, high-end figures based on their iconic comic book appearances. I'd pre-order Rob Liefeld's Captain America right now! It would probably come with a rock covered stand that obscured his feet!

MARVEL BOWEN SCARLET WITCH STATUE

I’ve always enjoyed the look of the Scarlet Witch. I just have no real concept of her actual abilities. If it’s really all about manipulating probabilities then they should just call her Math Mistress. So I’m going to erroneously assume that her powers are riding a broomstick and dancing naked at midnight. Pre-order her for $229.99

ONE DIRECTION ITEMS
BBTS says: “The popular boy band One Direction and Hasbro have teamed up to offer some new merchandise. We have 12" Figures of all five boys at $22.99 each, as well as a Case of 12 Mini Figures at $79.99 and the new One Dimension - Girl Talk: the Game at $18.99.”

Look, I am over the age of 30 and I have no idea what One Direction is. And if I don’t know what it is then it’s probably really popular. So I figure that if I post about it here then a ton of One Direction fans will rush to the site and boost our traffic and hopefully make a few sales for BTTS in the process. And then maybe one of them can post a comment below to tell me what One Direction is all about. We’ll pretend that we live in a post-apocalyptic world without Google.

In my youth though, I did play a drunken game of Girl Talk with some friends for a laugh and it was a fantastic game which involved hooking up with guys and gossiping while avoiding having to wear the dreaded “zit stickers” so if this new version is anything like that then I heartily endorse it. Check out the range here!

COLLECT A - MYTHICAL, PREHISTORIC ANIMALS

If you’ve got little kids and you really want to kickstart their imaginations then why not raise them right with these 1/40 to 1/6th scale mythological creatures and dinosaur figures? Who would win in a fight? Medusa or the T-Rex? There’s only one way to find out and it involves bashing these figures together with reckless abandon and youthful enthusiasm. I think these are pretty great! Prices range anywhere from $17.99 to $149.99 and you can pre-order them here.

FUTURAMA TINEEZ SERIES 02 THREE-PIECE SET
These are a lot of fun! I’ve already got a lot of the vinyl Kid Robot blind-boxed Futurama figures, but these Tineez guys have some really great poses and expressions. I especially love that take on Fry. All three are just $21.99 if you pre-order now.

NEW ARRIVALS

BORDERLANDS - CLAPTRAP & PSYCHO BANDIT

The opportunity to place the slick design of Borderlands right there on your shelf is certainly tempting enough, but the fact that the display base speaks is what really sells this for me. Psycho Bandit isn’t my favourite but that Claptrap is difficult to refuse. And it’s not a bad price for the set. You can buy it right now for $31.99.

BATMAN ARKHAM CITY DELUXE - KILLER CROC, MR. FREEZE

I think this is a line to watch out for (I saw these at Supanova in person and they’re fantastic). If you can’t get enough of Arkham City then these are really great renditions of those characters, standing approximately 10 - 12 inches tall (?) and super detailed. With limited space, I’m going to hold out for characters I’m a little more invested in than Mr. Freeze and Killer Croc, but I definitely can see the appeal. They’re $44.95 each and can be purchased right now.

THE AVENGERS 3.75" FIGURE SERIES 03 CASE

And here’s a rare chance to furnish your 3.75” The Avengers figure with your own Black Widow! You will have to purchase an entire case to do it, but it also includes highly sought after figures Loki and Hawkeye (2 Hawkeyes in fact). Add two Skrull Soldiers, two Reactron Armor Iron Man, a Fusion Armor Iron Man, and three Gamma Smash Hulks, and it’s not a bad haul for $109.99. And just think of all the happy faces when you give away all those extra Gamma Smash Hulks at Christmas. “Relax, Grandma... I got you Gamma Smash. Not Grandma’ Smash!” She’ll love it!

And that's what I liked this week! What do you think?
