Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012, Day 14: Nice Rack!

Oh yeeaaah! Day #14 of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar and we are still alive and kicking! We are solving mysteries, cheering up disappointed children, and high-fiving until our palms are sore and red. Yesterday our Christmas frowns were turned upside down thanks to the jolly gonking of a fan-favourite power droid! Can our winning streak continue? No. Probably not.

Find out what what’s behind Door #14... after the jump!

And it’s... a...

Nice raaaaack! See that joke is so hilarious I’ve used it twice. HAHA. Boobs.

So this handy but tiny/unsubstantial weapon rack looks to be pure filler, but don’t be fooled, it’s a necessary evil. We’ve had General Veers, Snow Selleck and a Battle Droid who are all missing weapons, and if the main image on the front of the box hasn’t lied to us, we should be getting a certain Sith Apprentice soon. One who might quite enjoy that double-bladed lightsaber. So Lego is really killing (at least) three birds with one stone here, providing two guns that can be shared among a number of troops, while also kitting out our favourite bisected villain. Hey, it might not be exciting but it sure is handy!

Now as far as I know there is no in-universe equivalent of this fanciful rack. I can’t imagine a situation in the films where a lightsaber is going to be stored on a rack next to regular army weapons. That would be very irresponsible. Stormtroopers can’t see shit through those helmets as it is - I don’t think you want to give one of them a double-bladed lightsaber. He’d cut both his and his neighbour’s legs off before getting out of the ship.

In the ongoing competition between this calendar and the Playmobil Game of Thrones calendar awarding the point today is a tough one. Neither gift is especially exciting. I think I’m ultimately going to have to go with guns and lightsabers so that means... holy shit... we’re tied?

  2. I gave the smaller gun to my battle droid, since last year's droid had one (I'm doing both calendars at once).

  3. In what universe would you want to store a double lightsaber while it was on?

  4. What's worse is the instruction diagram which shows the clip holding the light saber not by the hilt but by the ignited blade!
