Entertainment Weekly Cover Showcases 3rd Runner Up in Avengers Photoshop Competition!

Okay, so this playfully pasted Avengers group shot on the cover of Entertainment Weekly isn't exactly breaking news, but my commentary is new! And, hey, sometimes you need a little time to reflect!

So feast your hungry eyes on this sextet of super-powered heads:

And then join me after the jump for some further thoughts!...

Don't you find it just a little odd that Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow takes the prize spot? (And hopefully has her safetys on, or might be about to pop a hole in both Downey and Hemsworth's heads). The more cynically minded might suggest that Scarlett's recently leaked nude shots have made her the more newsworthy point-of-interest of the moment, but I'm going to actually take a far more positive approach. It's my belief that her head is so large in the frame as a tribute to equally large-meloned redhead director Joss Whedon! Minorities unite!

Meanwhile, both Iron Man and Thor are sporting some pretty weird and unflattering angles, and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye is presumably so unimportant, and such a leather-daddy costume that he's been brazenly censored by the space for the barcode! And poor old Captain America - the leader of the group right? - looks so tiny at the front their that his own skinny noggin is barely enough to block Black Widow's crotch.

But the biggest surprise might be our first (?) clear look at Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who appears to have rejected the "puny Banner" nerd stereotype in exchange for some beefy Blue Steel. No idea what he's going for there, and can only assume that right now he's on the verge of hulking out on both the photographer and the editor of Entertainment Weekly for choosing that shot. Bless the magazine though for letting their high school intern paste it all together!

Looking forward to the real thing! What do you make of all this?
