O.M.F.G.! Homage to M.U.S.C.L.E. on Kickstarter!

Do you remember M.U.S.C.L.E.? Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere? Randomly packed figures of tiny flesh-coloured freakish wrestlers? In the mid-eighties I had these things coming out of my ears (probably literally) and could not enter a store with a family member without leaving with a packet of them.

Image from here, where you'll find tons of other vintage pictures.
Look at those lil' buggers! It's like being pile-drived by fleshy nostalgia!

Well, our very own Taylor led me to a Kickstarter project where the artists at October Toys (George and Ayleen Gaspar) are making an original series of five figures entitled O.M.F.G. (Outlandish Mini Figure Guys) which are a wonderful tribute to M.U.S.C.L.E.

See pics of them after the jump!

But if you want to own a set then you're going to have to be super fast! They've already raiser over $15,000 (with an $11,000 goal). They're $10 for a set of five and the Kickstarter ends in 11 hours from posting this. I just bought mine, and if you've ever stuck a freakish rubbery wrestler up your nose, or lost one in the bath, then you might also be inclined to race over and reserve a set here.

The final sculpts look incredibly detailed and awesome, and you know I can't resist a figure called The Phantom Shithouse:

And if you missed the boat, or would just prefer to wallow in your own filth and nostalgia then you might enjoy the MUSCLEpedia which has links and pics of all 235 original figures including their preferred names. I just discovered that a couple of my favourites were called Ramenman and Bam Bam Ji! Wow!

  1. Kickstarter is dangerous, because now I own a set too. (or will in 10.5 hours)

  2. That pyramid shaped one in the blister pack looks awesome.
I did a M.U.S.C.L.E. Illustration as part of my 8 Bit Dreams series. Y'all can check it here...

  3. I have about 375 M.U.S.C.L.E. men. I was thinking of cutting it down to about 100 of the best ones. These 5 will definitely be part of my collection. Such a good homage.
