Star Wars Night At The Camden Riversharks Baseball Game

Last night I ventured into the depths of Camden, NJ (2009 most dangerous city in America!) for a baseball game. I think the Camden Riversharks are a minor league team.. but I didn't really go to see them. I didn't go to see their opponents, The Road Warriors. (I don't know where they are from, but someone at the game said they are from "nowhere".) I was there because it was Star Wars night. The only night I could catch a Stormtrooper and a Scout Trooper together saluting the flag during the Star Spangled Banner.

We missed the pre-game skit on the field because the super archaic method of buying tickets, but once we got in the characters (cosplayers?) were walking around. Overall I think I saw about 6-7 adults in serious full costume.  I probably saw hundreds of Star Wars-shirts, and a handful of lightsaber battles.

I only got a few pictures because it was pretty chaotic. And if I wasn't so busy eating everything in sight, I may have been able to get a few more pictures of the people in costume before they left. Here are a few of the best ones.

I'm guessing the thing on the right is a Road Warrior? It doesn't look much like Mel Gibson.

Vader was all business.

One of many who didn't like me taking their picture.

Crowd control.

Ruddy Yan came to represent the Expanded Universe.

This guy didn't want his actual facial expression on the internet.

I found these two kids on a bench.

I took this one by accident.

  1. I hope lots of random sporting events turn into comic-con type things over there. This wins. even the pitcher doing suspect things to his groin.

  2. This is epic. Especially that last guy playing with his lightsaber.
